$13 Million for Environmental Protection Engineers

In 2008, the State of Illinois employed 198 environmental protection engineers who made $13,365,880 in combined total wages.  The average wage for these employees was $67,504.  Sixteen of these employees made over $80,000 and the highest paid employee made $97,000.  These engineers were employed by the Departments of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Public Health, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
