How Much Does Your Congressmen Get Paid?

In 2009 (up to the point of our FOIA requests), Illinois paid $13,686,420.83 in wages to State Senators and State Representatives.  State Senators were paid a total of $4,469,825.83, and the highest paid State Senators were Senators Frank Watson and Emil Jones who each made $93,568 in 2009.  Our State Representatives were paid a combined $9,216,585.  These numbers reflect only their wages and do not include the benefits packages they receive, which for all our State Senators combined is valued at almost $4,000,000.

You can find this information for yourself by going to Payroll and searching for "State Senator" or "State Representative" under position.  You can also search for a specific state official by name.
